Annual Assessments:

​

Methods will reassess your IR35 status on an annual basis (every 12 months), to check that the determination remains accurate for the services you are delivering and that the ways of working fits with the IR35 determination. Methods are comfortable that this meets the requirements of the legislation to show reasonable care.

If you have been working with us on the same assignment and delivering the same services you will be asked to carry out a new assessment annually.

​

The fee for an assessment is £89 plus VAT. This will be carried out by QDOS.

​

We require the reassessment to release future payments, as this prevents an error in payments if the determination should change, for example from outside to inside.

New Assessments when you change to a different Methods client, project, role or you are extended with different deliverables:

Your IR35 assessment can only be applied to client, project and deliverables that were referenced in the initial QDOS assessment.

You will be asked to complete another assessment, if any of the following change:

​

• Working on a different Methods Client

• You are working on a different project

• Changing role

• Your deliverables change

​

An exception to this will be if you are extended and Methods set up a new project but all the other elements are the same. This reflects Methods ways of working.

What if I don’t want to do another assessment:

​

As the responsibility is with Methods to complete IR35 determinations, we will have to put payments on hold until the QDOS assessment is completed to ensure that we do not risk paying you without the appropriate tax and NI.

​

HMRC issues penalties to companies who have not provided reasonable care in establishing the status determination. Methods policy is to ensure an assessment has been completed and failure to do so could result in ending our involvement. We hope that we don’t need to do this, so please reach out to the IR35 team if you have any questions or issues.

How does the process work:

You will receive an email from Qdos with a questionnaire, this will be the same questions that you answered when you first started working for Methods. Please activate the link and complete the questions. Once complete submit the assessment for approval. Qdos will assess the response and then the Methods Project Manager will either query, review and approve the assessment. Once this has been approved a new Status Determination Statement will be issued to you via email.
